Position Overview
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join a project focused on infrastructure and platform migration. The role is centered around the migration of application servers and database servers, with a strong emphasis on reliability, documentation, and operational accuracy.
You will work closely with the engineering team to execute planned migrations, troubleshoot edge cases, and ensure systems are transitioned safely and cleanly. This is a hands-on role suited for an engineer who enjoys working with backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and automation, while also paying attention to detail and process quality.
The contract is planned for 9 months and covers a clearly defined migration scope.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the migration of application servers (approx. 3 months) and database servers (approx. 4–6 months).
  • Execute and monitor drain-and-replace automation processes.
  • Handle manual migration of broken or edge-case app server bindings.
  • Identify, document, and maintain a list of broken bindings, including root causes and remediation steps.
  • Prepare and contribute to the final migration report.
  • Clean up unused or obsolete resources after migration.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure a smooth and controlled migration process.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in backend development, with strong proficiency in Golang or Python (experience with both is a plus);
  • Experience working with MySQL or similar relational databases;
  • Practical experience with distributed systems (participation in development, maintenance, or migration of such systems);Hands-on experience with containerization tools such as Docker;
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform);
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP or AWS) and development of cloud automation;
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and automated deployment processes;
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit, integration, and functional tests;
  • Upper-Intermediate level of English or higher, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international team.

Bonus points for

  • Knowledge of PHP, Drupal, or WordPress.
  • Experience working with GraphQL / Apollo.
  • Familiarity with Node.js / Next.js.
