A highly ranked media buying and planning agency, recognized as the #1 by clients on Clutch.co, is seeking an Engineering Manager. Operating as a trading desk, the agency delivers strategic media planning for brands and agencies with custom solutions tailored to business and marketing objectives, avoiding a "one size fits all" approach. All aspects of media planning, execution, and measurement are handled by an internal team, ensuring full control and seamless operations without outsourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support a cross-functional team of developers, DevOps, and data specialists through 1:1s, growth opportunities, and career guidance;
  • Identify skill gaps, recruit, onboard, and ensure the team is well-staffed;
  • Provide technical coaching through code reviews, pair programming, and sharing best practices;
  • Contribute to the codebase, resolve complex challenges, and ensure robust architecture;
  • Collaborate with the VP of Product on project roadmaps, task breakdowns, and progress tracking;
  • Provide accurate estimations and ensure the team meets production deadlines;
  • Oversee full project lifecycle, champion agile processes (sprints, standups, retrospectives), and manage risks;
  • Propose mitigation strategies and realign priorities as needed;
  • Align with Product, Sales, and Operations teams to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment with business goals;
  • Manage external vendor relationships and facilitate smooth project execution;
  • Report progress to senior leadership, highlighting concerns and opportunities;
  • Stay current with emerging ad tech technologies and evaluate tools to improve performance and efficiency;
  • Enforce best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and architecture to ensure scalable, secure solutions;
  • Collaborate with Finance/Operations to track and report SR&ED-qualifying efforts.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript, React/NextJS, Node;js (Express;js, Fastify);
  • Proven expertise in working with Git, Kubernetes, Linux, Docker, and PostgreSQL;
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and data pipelines; 
  • Expertise in AWS/GCP services;
  • Experience in building and maintaining high-traffic web servers and backend pipelines (e;g;, handling 20,000 queries per second, processing 1-2 billion assets daily);
  • Proven ability to write high-quality, maintainable code across the stack;
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring, and building team culture;
  • Expertise in scoping, planning, and delivering complex projects with an agile approach;
  • Experience with ad tech integrations is preferred;
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical challenges and communicate with diverse audiences.
