Unity Developer

Research & Development

Remote

June 5, 2025

Our client is a climate-tech gaming startup co-founded by the founder of Unity and the former CTO of Electronic Arts. Their PS5 app turns console energy use into demand for new wind or solar power, letting players track their impact in real time and unlock in-game rewards from titles like PGA Tour 2K25. Backed by top climate investors, the company is scaling from beta to a global, multi-platform launch with a consumer app, clean-energy analytics, and B2B publisher integrations.

Officially launched in Q1 2025, they are now seeking a talented and innovative Unity Developer to contribute to the next iteration of their PlayStation app. This role involves developing and testing new features for the current beta version, working closely with a cross-functional, remote team. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, creative, ambitious, and thrives in collaborative environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain PS4/PS5 features (C#);
  • Prototype new game-loop ideas that connect gameplay to renewable-energy data;
  • Integrate cloud services (AWS or Azure) for telemetry, clean-energy matching, and tracking;
  • Collaborate with our design team to deliver a polished UI/UX that highlights player impact and in-game rewards;
  • Optimize performance and memory for console certification;
  • Write clean, reusable code and participate in code reviews with the Director of Engineering;
  • You are comfortable collaborating with Product, Marketing, and Design teams;
  • Communicate regularly across stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional Unity development experience (C#);
  • Proficiency in at least one other language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go);
  • Hands-on experience deploying and scaling services on AWS or Azure;
  • Solid grasp of game design principles and UI/UX best practices;
  • Prior involvement or strong understanding of a PS5 (or PS4) app release, including TRCs and submission checklists;
  • Passion for clean tech, playable prototypes, and shipping high-quality code quickly;
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset — you’ll work closely with the Director of Engineering to move from beta to global launch;
  • Curious, optimistic, and a creative problem-solver who embraces the unknown and adapts to changing priorities;
  • At least Upper-Intermediate level of English;
  • Strong sense of follow-through — you keep your word and pay attention to detail.

Bonus points for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.

We offer excellent benefits, including but not limited to

  • People-oriented management without bureaucracy;
  • Opportunities for self-realization, career, and professional growth;
  • Friendly and engaging professional team.
